Frequently Asked Questions

How do Crossover’s fees compare to traditional healthcare?
When you visit a traditional healthcare provider, you often pay a co-pay plus the bills you receive later in the mail. Traditional in-person care typically costs, co-pay + bills, $175 for a PCP visit, $350 for urgent care, and $2,000 for an ER. Also, many issues require a few office visits to resolve, so costs tend to add up to manage issues that need time to resolve. We believe health issues need to be managed over time by an accessible team of providers you know and trust. That's why Crossover charges one flat rate for access to your team for a specific period of time. If you need help choosing how long you should join Crossover, just start a chat with us!
How do I get care via Crossover?
Just join Crossover, establish your account, and create an Episode by explaining your symptoms and sharing photos. After creating an Episode, all your messaging and appointments with the providers on your team happen within your Episode. When there’s new messages or activity, you’ll get notified. With Crossover, care happens on your own time and terms. Within an Episode, you are:

• Writing messages.
• Sharing photos with your Team.
• Answering messages and questions.
• Scheduling appointments with your providers.
• Viewing lab and imaging results.
• Viewing your prescription and choosing your pharmacy.
• Viewing specialists you've been referred to.
• Viewing the specialist consult reports from specialists you've seen.
• Reading up on your diagnoses and instructions for how to feel better.
How does Crossover work with your insurance?
When you get traditional care, you use your insurance for things like lab tests, imaging tests, and medications. You also use your insurance to pay for the fees doctors charge each time you visit them in their office. When providers on your Crossover Care Team order things like medications, labs, imaging, or specialist visits, you use your traditional insurance for those. But we don’t bill your insurance for “provider visit fees” with your Crossover providers. You, separate from your insurance, cover just those “provider visit” costs by joining Crossover for a specific period of time. In the end, if you haven’t yet spent your deductible, provider visit costs would be very similar to the fees you’d pay with traditional care.
Does Crossover take insurance?
Insurance companies cover traditional means of getting care from providers like in-person office visits and video visits. They are just now slowly adjusting to pay for single online care transactions but rarely pay for membership based services like those offered by Crossover. We believe they’ll catch up someday, but for now, in order to get care in new, innovative, convenient ways, individual memberships are paid for directly by members or their employers.
How does Crossover compare to traditional care?
Ultimately, the main difference is how you communicate with your Crossover team. Unlike only being able to communicate with your providers during scheduled office visits, you communicate with your Crossover Team whenever you want. This changes everything:

• Most issues don’t require appointments
• You can get care anywhere, safely.
• Questions and concerns don’t have to wait for appointments, accelerating your recovery.
• It begins to feel like you’ve got a doctor in your family, always at the ready.
• Surprise fees and confusing bills are a thing of the past.
"Convenient and easy to use. I could talk to the provider from the safety of my home and send photos of my area of concern so she could see what I was asking.
"Overall VERY FAST responses and resolution. Exceeded expectations."
