Zayd enjoys working in healthcare because he feels that positively impacting patients and continuing to teach and train people coming up in the field is impactful and rewarding. He is academically involved in the direct clinical training of medical students and internal medicine residents. His clinical practice involves special training and a focus on areas of preventative medicine, wellness, and obesity management.
He earned his MD in Baghdad, a Masters in Public Health at Oklahoma University, and completed his postdoctoral fellowship in Clinical Research there as well. He completed the Internal Medicine Residency Program at Wayne State School of Medicine in Detroit, and is ABIM-certified.
Born and raised in the Middle East, Zayd immigrated to the US 12 years ago, and is a resident of Austin, Texas. Away from work, he enjoys the outdoors including hiking and taking road trips.
