Marco Ramirez, LMFT

Mental Health Therapist

Originally from El Paso, Texas, Marco is a Bilingual/Bicultural (English/Spanish) Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in California. Through the lens of cultural humility, he provides psychotherapy using evidence-based treatments such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), and Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR) in addition to other modalities. His unique skill set allows him to focus on providing psychotherapy and case management to children, family, couples, and individuals, especially those in the LGBTIQ+ and the Latinx communities. Marco specializes in therapy in Spanish (Terapia en español), Sexual Orientation, and Gender Identity Issues using Existential Approaches, Narrative Therapy, and Family Systems.

As a young adult, Marco had a positive experience in therapy and it led him to want to help others have a similar experience. He likes helping people become the best versions of themselves and reach their goals. When he’s not treating patients, Marco enjoys meditation, gardening, American Sign Language, bikram yoga, and sci-fi/comic books.

What makes me unique:
I am one of a limited amount of bilingual male clinicians in this area. I have an ability to use storytelling and metaphors to take concepts from therapy and try to incorporate them into my patient’s world using their ideas and languages, so they feel connected to their success.

Why do I practice healthcare:
Being a therapist is a rewarding field of study. I learn so much from others and I get a boost when I see my clients succeed.
